Machines, tools and equipment is a broad category representing a wide range of different types of workplace equipment. It can range from very large and sophisticated drill or punch press machines, shearing machines and lathes to smaller items like hammers, screw drivers and ladders. Each piece of equipment has the potential to injure a worker. Equipment used in your workplace requires thoughtful contemplation of the risks associated with each device, a plan to substitute hazardous equipment for something less likely to cause injury, the provision of proper training and maintenance, and appropriate personal protective equipment where required.
WSPS has free resources to help you manage the machines, tools and equipment in your workplace. Please refer to the Topics and Hazards page for details.
