Advisory committees serve as a forum, providing industry-specific expertise to assist WSPS in:
- Setting strategy, making decisions, and building partnerships to achieve its mission
- Assisting the Board of Directors with its responsibility to set the strategic direction of WSPS
- Helping achieve a national habit of safety that will put an end to workplace fatalities, injuries and illnesses
WSPS advisory committees represent nine key sub-sectors within the agriculture, manufacturing and service sectors. The sub-sectors represented are:
- Agriculture
- Manufacturing
- Commercial Industrial Services (CIS)
- Durable Goods Production (DGP)
- Food, Pharmaceuticals & Personal Products (FPPP)
- Vehicle Industrial Equipment Manufacturing (VIEM)
- Service
- Restaurant, Food Services (RFS)
- Retail, Wholesale & Office (RWO)
- Tourism & Hospitality (TH)
- Vehicle, Sales & Service (VSS)
The committees meet quarterly and members serve for three years. A member may be re-appointed to the committee following their initial term. They provide a “voice” for their industry sector, which helps WSPS set strategy and make decisions by identifying occupational health and safety issues, and emerging trends.
