Advisory Committees

Advisory committees serve as a forum, providing industry-specific expertise to assist WSPS in:

  • Setting strategy, making decisions, and building partnerships to achieve its mission
  • Assisting the Board of Directors with its responsibility to set the strategic direction of WSPS
  • Helping achieve a national habit of safety that will put an end to workplace fatalities, injuries and illnesses

WSPS advisory committees represent nine key sub-sectors within the agriculture, manufacturing and service sectors. The sub-sectors represented are:

  • Agriculture
    • Agriculture (AG)

  • Manufacturing
    • Commercial Industrial Services (CIS)
    • Durable Goods Production (DGP)
    • Food, Pharmaceuticals & Personal Products (FPPP)
    • Vehicle Industrial Equipment Manufacturing (VIEM)

  • Service
    • Restaurant, Food Services (RFS)
    • Retail, Wholesale & Office (RWO)
    • Tourism & Hospitality (TH)
    • Vehicle, Sales & Service (VSS)

The committees meet quarterly and members serve for three years. A member may be re-appointed to the committee following their initial term. They provide a “voice” for their industry sector, which helps WSPS set strategy and make decisions by identifying occupational health and safety issues, and emerging trends.
