MOL Releases Draft of Mandatory Health and Safety Program - Ready for WSN Client Feedback WSN clients and member firms can send their comments and feedback to the Ministry of Labour (MOL) regarding a draft copy of the province’s new mandatory health and safety awareness program. The draft program is titled “Prevention Starts Here” and consists of a worker awareness workbook with an employer guide and a ‘Prevention Starts Here’ poster. The program introduces workers to Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act) and explains the employees’ rights and responsibilities on the job. The creation of the program was one of the 46 recommendations from the Expert Advisory Panel led by Tony Dean. The worker awareness workbook and poster are two of the first steps in implementing the recommendations. A supervisor awareness workbook will follow for supervisors who are responsible for frontline workers. WSN encourages its stakeholders to review the program and offer their feedback to the MOL. The consultation period will end on February 17, 2012. The workbook is posted at the link below: Link: http://www.labour.gov.on.ca/english/hs/prevention/index.php
