How We Work

Partnering with our Road to Zero Clients

Working with PSHSA Health and Safety consultants through Road to Zero gives organizations access to free expert consulting services to help identify opportunities for improvement within their health and safety system. We offer up-to-date information on injury prevention initiatives, as well as recent or anticipated changes to legislation, codes and standards to ensure you meet your health and safety requirements. Our Road to Zero preliminary assessment provides a general review of your internal responsibility system and helps to identify shortfalls in your current health and safety prevention programs. Our consultants will also help you create an action plan to address any gaps that you identify and provide advice to enhance your programs. The preliminary assessment service and follow-up consultation is absolutely free.

Working with Schedule 2 Employers

With more than 400 Schedule 2 employers among our members, PSHSA recognizes the different needs of Schedule 2 employers and customized solutions to help you round out your existing prevention programs.

Ultimately, our work is about continuous improvement – helping you to maintain and grow your prevention programs and foster a sustainable culture of safety. We can assist you to implement an injury prevention program, or transfer our knowledge to your team so that they can deliver programs or training internally without reliance on external consultants. We can also act as a link to a broader range of services from other associations, and bring you up-to-date information on legislation, current research, leading practices, and statistical analysis of your sector.

Maintaining a Strong Sector Focus

To create and sustain a safety culture is a journey. PSHSA firmly believes that a sustainable health and safety system requires the integration of safety into the core business of an organization – it can’t be a stand-alone program.  For PSHSA, this means that we need to work hard to understand your business and tailor our services to the unique demands of the sectors we serve.

Our teams have a wealth of sector experience and, throughout amalgamation, we have maintained a strong commitment to deliver sector-specific products and services. We are customizing our key programs like the Health and Safety Management System to meet the needs of our different sector, and we continue to provide leading edge, evidence-based solutions adapted to the unique work environments of our clients. PSHSA also has three active sector-focused Advisory Councils - in Healthcare, Education and Culture, and Municipal and Community Affairs – which will help us to ensure that we continue to maintain a strong sector focus as we evolve.
