This new Small Business Health and Safety Program is a partnership between the WSIB and the health and safety associations (HSAs). The purpose of this program is to provide critical health and safety information to small businesses as they start-up their operations and to help them learn how to effectively and easily integrate health and safety practices into daily work activities. The program’s goal is to ensure that newly-registered businesses never experience injuries or illnesses, avoid work interruptions, and Ministry of Labour (MOL) fines or prosecution.
Eligible firms, participating in the two, two hour training program, will receive a 5% rebate on their WSIB premiums.
Participation is limited to owners or senior managers of small/micro businesses that have registered with the WSIB in the last twelve (12) months and that pay $90,000 or less in annual premiums. The training sessions include:
- The Business Case for Health and Safety
- The Law/compliance
- Risk management
